How often does my truck need a Certificate of Fitness (COF)?

Most heavy vehicles over 3,500kg need a Certificate of Fitness every six months in New Zealand, though some newer vehicles can qualify for a twelve month cycle. We can inspect your truck, tell you where it stands, and sort any repairs needed to get it through, so you are not caught out with an expired COF.

What is the difference between a COF and a WOF?

A Warrant of Fitness covers light vehicles, while heavy vehicles over 3,500kg need a Certificate of Fitness instead. A COF is a more thorough commercial inspection that looks closely at brakes, structure, and safety systems that take a heavier load. If you run trucks, the COF is the one that matters to you.

How often should a heavy truck be serviced?

It depends on the make and how hard the truck works, but most operators service by kilometres travelled or engine hours run rather than by the calendar. A linehaul truck clocking big distances needs attention far more often than one doing local runs. We can set a schedule that matches how your fleet actually works.

What is a DPF clean and does my truck need one?

A diesel particulate filter traps soot from the exhaust and needs periodic cleaning so it does not clog and choke the engine. If you are seeing warning lights, lost power, or forced regenerations, the DPF is usually the culprit. A proper clean restores flow and saves you the far bigger cost of a replacement filter.

Can you help if a truck breaks down on the road?

Yes. We offer 24/7 emergency support because a truck stuck on the side of the road costs you money every hour it sits there. Call us any time and we will get to you or get you to us as fast as we can, with the parts and diagnostic gear to get you moving again.

What are Road User Charges and how do they fit with servicing?

Road User Charges apply to diesel and heavy vehicles in New Zealand and are paid per distance travelled. They are separate from servicing, but keeping accurate hub odometer readings and a well maintained truck goes hand in hand with staying on top of your RUC. We can flag anything during a service that affects your records.

Do you handle both routine servicing and major repairs?

We do. That ranges from scheduled servicing and oil changes right through to clutch replacements, driveline work, cooling system rebuilds, and electrical fault finding. Having one workshop that knows your truck for both the small jobs and the big ones keeps your history in one place and your downtime down.

How can I reduce downtime across my fleet?

Planned, proactive maintenance is the single biggest lever. Catching a worn part on a scheduled visit is far cheaper and faster than a roadside failure during a job. We can build a maintenance programme with priority scheduling and clear reporting so problems are found early and your trucks stay earning.
